I read the news today, oh boy…. No, the English army hasn’t won any wars recently, but after a couple of weeks away, some more and some less notable things have happened.
1. We are allowed to be healthy. Thanks to the SCOTUS decision to call it a “tax” and not a “mandate”, we can have a health insurance. At least an appearance of it, and that’s more than nothing. Don’t really care how you call it, but if people want to drop dead as a matter of principle, the least they could do is to pay some more taxes to clean up the mess their decomposing corpse would create. Now the SCOTUS should throw out of the window the disgraceful DOMA and the ridiculous California Prop 8, and life would be brighter for everyone. Even for the people who think they have the right to tell me how to live my life. Because if they can tell me how to live my life – I will insist on telling them how to live theirs, and somehow I doubt they’ll like it.
2. Jon Strewart’s “Earth” is on sale at Barn’s and Nobles. Got a copy for less than $7. If you don’t have a store close to you, you can always get it on Amazon, for a bit more ($11.20 right now). Funny, and very helpful in case you’re meeting an alien any time soon.
3. United Airlines overbooked all of their summer flights, or so it seems. If you have the time you can get great bargains on postponing your flights. Just got a $300 for a 2-hours delay. $150/hour – pretty nice pay. Talk to the agent at the podium of the boarding area before you board your flight. The vouchers are valid for a year for flights purchased directly from United, can be used on multiple flights, until the whole voucher redeemed. Neat.
4. The weather on the East Coast is horrible.
That’s about it for now.
